What is the Ecoca School Kitchen?
The school kitchen project was realized in the Kyangwali refugee settlement in Uganda as part of the Camp+ initiative, a project initiated by Care with the goal of being the world’s most sustainable refugee settlement.
For many students in less privileged societies, the lunch break at school offers them their only (warm) meal during the entire day. It is therefore extremely important to make this meal as healthy, nutritious, and satiating for the children as possible.
This calls for kitchen facilities that are tailored to the cooking and eating requirements of a large group of young students, meaning enough energy to provide food for all students, as well as easy set-up and handling of appliances.
